Don't be a silly billy.

We are not asking whether we are there yet; we are asking whether we shall ever leave.

And that is beginning to look rather doubtful, looking at our politicians who are already caving in.

I am absolutely convinced that with the right people: Rees-Mogg and Farage, for example, we could leave without compromise.

It is clear that the ones who are 'leading' our negotiations are rather lacking in the balls department.

Same analogy.......but we are still packing the boot, still sitting on the drive.

You can't do these things overnight. Our infrastructure is all tied up with other EU countries. IT systems, telecoms, finance, medicine, healthcare, crime, security, military, education, power, air traffic control etc. etc. What do you think would happen if we stopped cooperating on international air traffic control?

These things take time to sort out.

I agree. But before we have managed to do that, the sky will have fallen down!

Only if you tried to sever all ties tomorrow and walk away. I doubt that anyone on either side would compromise safety but in the short term it would cause chaos. Financially & logistically it would be a crazy thing to do. The currency would be worth next to nothing and vital supplies may dry up.

The government knows this so they want a transition period. This period seems to be moving into 5 years now, which is getting close to the original prediction of 8 years.

It would indeed. The EU are already treading on dangerously thin ice, and their precious Euro would be the first to suffer.

So we should walk away and invite them to come scampering after us begging for a deal.

Hi

I fail to understand why some simply do not get it.

The Euro is fine, it is the £ that has suffered.

If we just walk away, we lose far more than the EU, 4 times as much in % terms and that is simply on trade with the EU.

We also lose access to all the trade agreements we have been in as part of the EU.

Even the most hardened Brexiteers in the Government are now seeking a transition period.

This is simply because they know they cannot deliver on their promises.

The no deal is better than a bad deal strategy is out of the window now.

I find the entire thing very sad and totally avoidable.

If we had got started straight away, as soon as we had a new PM after Cameron had cut and run and then delayed the Article 50 Letter by six months, then yes, the EU would have known we could have just walked away and the pressure would have been on them.

They know we cannot deliver, so now the pressure is on us.
