Victoria and Abdul

Just been to see this film at out local 'Vue' cinema. Wasn't especially looking forward to it as I am not a Judi Dench fan and cannot stand the plank, Michael Gambon - but - I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it. It is hilariously funny in parts and heartbreakingly sad in others. All in all an excellent film, based on fact but heavily padded. The biggest surprise was when the credits rolled up at the end - only the actors names were given, not the characters they had played - and there was ... Eddie Izzard ! Now I have only ever seen him in wierd make make-up and being silly and had not recognised him in the film at all. He played 'Bertie', Albert Edward who became Edward VII - and did it brilliantly !

Two things I will remember about it:-

1. The young man who plays Abdul has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

2. Neither Simon Callow nor Judi Dench can sing!!
