In A Deep Pit

Someone put this to me today:

Imagine if all of humanity was in a deep pit, how would we get out ?

Climb over anyone/everyone in the way! Sounds a bit like 'Today in Parliament' Puddle Duck.

Re: In A Deep Pit

We'd fight to the death at the bottom of it, the idea we'd help each other seems very unlikely.

Re: In A Deep Pit

Dig another deep pit next to it, gradually filling our pit with the soil from the new one. Then bit by bit the floor level would rise and we could walk out.

Mind you, having come up with that ingenious method of escape, if ALL humanity was in the first pit, there wouldn't be anyone left outside to dig the next hole.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. . .

Re: In A Deep Pit

Depends .... would it be more interesting to keep digging the pit and see where it leads and if it comes out anywhere on the other side?

We wouldn't get out and after a generation or two we wouldn't want to because we wouldn't realise we were in a deep pit. Being in this deep pit would become the norm,

Just had a thought - perhaps we are in this pit already and don't know it. Now there's a depressing thought.

Wait for others to die, pile em up until you reach the top.
