New Slow Cooker.

I got bored of food I could only cook in the microwave so ordered a new slow cooker from Argos.
It came on Thursday and I bought food yesterday to cook in it

First of all I opened it and had to think which small third world country would be interested in having soup with me.
Its absolutely massive. I didnt realised what size it was till I unboxed it today 6.5 ltr

I cut up into chunks some chicken breast, potatoes, celery, Green beans an onion and carrots. I put 450 ml of chicken stock and some mixed herbs in, switched on for 30 min at low power then turned up to high for the last 4 hours. I cannot see actual liquid but i can see something bubbling away not far below the veg.

I sneaked a fork under the lid and speared a piece of carrot off the top which seems hot and cooked. How long would i need to wait till I know its all cooked??

Re: New Slow Cooker.

That would be well cooked by now MC

A whole chicken would only need 4 hours on low

The good thing about them is they can be left on for hours! But try not to lift the lid too much, if cooking on low, as it could drastically reduce the heat.

I do a mean pork, cider and casserole in mine, bought from Wilko, and it is small enough for my needs. It’s 1.5L and fits nicely on the worktop.
