I was amazed living next door that my lawn was not attacked but then there is moss and weeds in mine so perhaps the larvae don't like that so much.

nematodes are discussed a lot on Gardeners Question time and they seem to be popular but expensive.
There are different ones depending on the pest.

I believe they have to be kept refregerated then used within 2 weeks of purchase. The weather has to be over 5 degs. too, else they die.
I am thinking about it for the same reason your neighbour did, because of the dogs. 2 of them are often rooting about in the compost. The oldest one eats it, and young Gertie looks for any bits of wood to collect. So the chemical drench I used to use would not be safe.
