I'd rather see a stage show than a film any day, especially if the artists are talented and they so often are.

Depends on the show I think, went to see Fiddler on the Roof with Alfie Bass, years ago, it was great ........Fiddler was ideal for the stage

Oh my goodness you've reminded me - haven' t thought of it for years but I went with my sister to see Topol in it on the London stage - must have been about 67- sheer torture, loathed every song. Avoided the film after that, but I think it won lots of Oscars.

One film I liked that didn't get much notice was Sweet Charity - Shirley MacLaine playing a prostitute as she so often did. Some truly great sings and dancing, esp. Chita Rivera in There's Got to be Something Better than This.
