I take my hat off of to dear Uncle Arthur
Who’s soul with the devil he would not barter
He’d go it along and take his chances
As the years roll by his vigour enhances.

God bless you Arthur!

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

Hello chums,
it's been a roller coaster of a day. Nurse Gillian had a collision with 2 other cars, fortunately in a queue of slow moving traffic, no one was hurt. She is still in shock, her first prang in her driving career of 40 years

The damage seemed slight at the time but after having it looked at the dealer, it will cost many hundreds of pounds cos the whole engine & thingummys have all been pushed back about 6 inches.

My son rang to say he is coming over with my nephew who is a professional musician , and they want feeding before they go on to their gig. Nothing quite like being treated like a publc convenience is there.
Actually I haven't seen nephew for about 15 years so it's cool.

We are decluttering & I have put some chairs in the front garden with a sign

COMFY CHAIRS, take 'em away free. Not even a tiny bit of interest apart from someone who expressed interest but really wanted to use the loo. I think he was taking the pi--

hey ho

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

God you do live an exciting fun packed life - fancy all those different people fancying you!!

I used to be an RJ fancier
kept 'im in a loft
let him out on sundays
when he would s..t a lot!

he'd strut about
stick out his snout
or was that his beak
he used to tweet?

and then the purest poems came out
as he around his platform pout
cooing cooing cooing thrice
throwing chest out e'er so nice

if you are a pigeon fancier
try the RJ breed [full dancer]
he will sing a song for you
and then for encore give a coo?

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

I recently had a few days hospitalized - my disease remains a mystery - so all the might and monies of the OZ NHS thrown at me and not a whisper still:

the lady with the lamp

I saw the lady with the lamp
though others did not see
she stood there smiling at the door
but did not beckon me!

I looked into her smiling eyes
she seemed to say 'take care'
I sunk into my pillowed nest
my world still seemed secure

and then as gently as she came
she spirited away
farewell my lady with the lamp
we'll meet some other day?

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

they whisked me through the triage bay
and slapped me on a trolley
stuck needles in me everywhere
I just felt proper sorry!

the machines beeped and flashed and read
the figures flashed before me
they asked me 'tea or coffee'
I said 'no I just feel rather poorly'

they gave me pills for all my ills
did not like my BP
I said 'I've always ever had that one'
they said ' it's down yippee'

once they thought they'd stabilized
left me lying up high tide
finally found a home for me
rushed on trolley to IC

private room with all the thrills
electronic bed with moving hills!
had me left leg at half mast
the right arm buttons could not grasp

tubes in there and out of here
could have killed for half a beer
they brought in tea and those nice snacks
but me arms to short to grasp!

finally moved to sedate places
medical ward with all the graces
never seen so many nurses
they just breezed in and out strange faces

finally had enough of me
all been checked and symptom free
still do not have diagnosis
discharged with the 'gumbudoses'

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

Thank God there was no injuries RJ.

Glad you’re OK Gumbud, whatever you do don’t go spreading that dreaded Gumbudoses about, God knows we have enough trouble keeping the other dreaded thing out.

Still in top verse form I see.

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

Another of my dark rambles.

I look in the mirror and I always see
The same old ghost following me
It can be brooding and malevolent
Other times something my mind invents

Sometimes welcome, as when my dad
Comes back to relive the life he had
An appearance granted once for me
When I was in years nearly fifty

Here’s the face you deserve at forty
We have all been good and oh so naughty
What goes round comes round again
What the hell, are you gonna do then

The end time is coming
No point in running
Will you end up in heaven or hell
No one has returned, so we cannot tell.

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

PS,

Nephew arrived yesterday & was a delight to spend a couple of hours with. He was fascinated by all the work I'd put into family history, has toured the world as a session player & speaks English, Polish, French, Italian, Arabic , chinese & Russian. HE has the physique of a greek god & to cap it all is intelligent, polite & charming.

Reminded me of me at 26.

Re: Robert's Poems (Part 2)

Love your Dark Rambles RJ.

My younger brother at 26 had what was described by a girlfriend of his to me as "A carved face" God bless the mark but I never knew what she meant by that so I spent one night with him in the pub staring at his face looking for chisel marks, found none but he got very annoyed with me for staring at him.
