Doctors

I heard on the news this morning, that GP's are going to be paid £55 for each patient they diagnose with Dementia.
Why?

Re: Doctors

Apparently they are misdiagnosing and this is to make them concentrate on doing it right. Not a money making scheme at all

Re: Doctors

They get paid a salary and then they get paid extra for doing what their salary is paid for. It doesn't make sense to me. When I was a lecturer I got paid a salary but I didn't get paid extra for going into a classroom and teaching.

Re: Doctors

I am puzzled by the whole thing isn't it part of a GP's existing remit to test for and diagnose all medical conditions.

Re: Doctors

It is frightening Carol a doctor should be aware of the patients needs without being paid extra money.

Re: Doctors

I thought it was their job to diagnose problems, not get paid extra for it.

Re: Doctors

If a doctor is incapable of recognising dementia in a patient in the first place how will giving them an extra £55 per patient for diagnosing it help

Its all sending me gaga - heard the other day, doctors were leaving because of the stress and strain of it all and my doctor has cut his hours so much, a replacement has been brought in ...
