Re: Happy Valley

I have the subtitles on for everything, especially for programmes with American and Northern/Scottish accents! This saves constant rewinding and putting my ear on the speakers on the television! I love Catch Up but the only drawback is, you can't get subtitles on it.

Aysa, It's a shame you didn't see the first series of Happy Valley as you would know who's who in it and their relevance to the storyline.

Re: Happy Valley

Caught up last night. Dear God! Not a bundle of laughs.
But the black humour did make me laugh out loud a few times!
Is it me or have they made the central character even harder than in the first series? Mind you that's hardly surprising...

From Prince Andrei to this! What an amazing piece of acting when he was told about his mother.

Re subtitles I use them all the time. I wouldn't have understood a single word when she and the senior investigating woman were talking and it was central to the story. I'd have missed the whole lot.

Re: Happy Valley

I watched the first series and the second seems to be just as good! Great actors and a fantastic storyline. I didn't have any problems hearing it, but that's maybe because I have the volume turned up LOUD regardless of the programme!

Re: Happy Valley

Cracking drama, subtitles essential.
I loved the scene where she was escorting the schoolboy to the police car, and her description of the skunk he'd been dealing, hilarious!
And what a really moving depiction of an alcoholic falling off the wagon.

Re: Happy Valley

This time, there seems to be a lot more going on, now they've got the trafficking plot included too.
I wasn't convinced how Tommy's prison visitor friend got the teaching assistant's job so easily and conveniently in the same school as Catherine Cawood's grandson. Surely, police checks would have been carried out on her and shown her name wasn't Miss Wealan?
