Jam, who is correct.

I have just made myself a Jam Sandwich, I buttered the bread, and spread out the Strawberry Jam. The Wife reckons it is disgusting buttering the bread when having Jam Sandwiches, who is correct, I always point out that a Jam Sandwich is often referred to as a Jam Buttie.

Only time I don't butter bread for a sandwich is when I use mayo in a salad sarnie, so yes I would butter a jam sandwich.

I'd butter, if not the jam soaks through the bread - not that I eat it now though.

I don't eat jam sandwiches so can't help , the thought of sweet things in bread makes me shudder

Have a cheese sandwich instead Paul then you won't have a problem

I always use butter on a sandwich but if you like it without it is a more healthy option !!

You could have both - I quite like Wensleydale cheese with blackcurrant jam and, yes, I would butter the bread first.

Sorry Meg - I bet that really gave you the shudders!

Butter for me so your wifes wrong, but not advisable to tell her so. Usually find "Yes Dear" is good for preservation for life.
