It’s Back!

Well OK, the core of the Milky Way has been back in our night skies for some time now, and this isn’t my first photo of it for 2018, but this is my first time sharing.

While I’ve been out and about taking Milky Way photos a few times already, I just haven’t had time to sit and the computer and do anything with them.

Most of my photography of late has involved “quick stops” while traveling from A to B, usually between work and home, so why should my Astro photography be any different!? On Monday night driving home from work, I could see stars so made a spur of the moment decision to stop at the iconic Kernot Corner Store. I managed to catch the Milky Way rising just above the store, the unaccounted for street light over the road provided just enough light to illuminate the store front... perfect for the lazy photographer in me, no light painting required!

A new bird! On my way down our lane to pick up the kids from the bus stop I was rapt to see these birds. I used my car as a hideaway and shot photos out the window before getting out and getting closer shots. What beautiful colours there are on the male in particular. Looking up my bird book I found out these birds are Common Bronzewings. Nothing 'common' about them I think!
