Re: CT scan

Yes, I'm sure younger people will see a cure for cancer. I don't think it will come in time for older people though. All that can be done at present are the things we hear about.

Something the specialist nurse said yesterday was that, even if the tumour were to become more active, they would still operate because I'm otherwise pretty fit. It wouldn't mean removing the whole kidney because this is the last one anyway but just the part that has the tumour. I wonder if that could have been done to the first one 33 years ago instead of removing it altogether? Probably not but it's a thought.

The condition could one day prove to be fatal but I've reached 73 and reckon that's not bad. I realise I'm not going to be immortal and am able to live with a lumpy kidney, mostly forget it and hope the news remains good next year. If not ..such is life.

Re: CT scan

Mart, they are currently using Immunology on Breast cancer patients and they hope to extend it to other cancers.

Apparently our own immune system tries to kill the cancer, but some of our own immune cells work better than others. They are establishing which cells are doing the best job and, when they have found which it is, they infuse lots more than normal into you body.

It is a bit like Chemo but they use your own body cells rather than poisons.... so I think there would be less side effects.
Cancer research is currently finding so many possible new cures, at an incredible rate, so never give up hope!

I saw a lady, who was having this treatment, on TV!

I am having immunotherapy alongside my chemo. Not everyone is suitable and I was told there was a 30% chance that I would be. Luckily I was one of the 30%.

My head is suitably buried in the sand again ..until the same time next year anyway.
