I just don't understand why people should be proud of their origins. Where we were born and the skin we are in is not of our doing.

I'm white,Scottish,with Irish Immigrant Grandparents,had black hair when Younger,now white...hazel eyes...My Dad had jet black hair and blue eyes...Maternal Granny called Him black Irish,whatever that meant,...Oh..now My skin is a dark brown due to the sunny weather recently,and I've always gone brown in the sun.

So if your mother was on a yacht in the middle of the ocean when you were born, would you be proud of that, something you had no say in?

Half my lot were throwing pebbles at William the Conqueror whilst the other half were blowing raspberrys at him from the shore of Eriu which makes me ....a mongrel.

No but if we are brought up in a loving or at least secure environment then you are always going to feel an affinity towards, and a connection with, the heritage and traditions of that environment
