I have lived too long overseas I have an indeterminate accent .
I don't have any roots anywhere .

I think I've said it before LQs but I just love the Yorkshire accent.

I like the Yorkshire accent too Rhian, and some Scottish accents as well.

I don't know if I have one or not. I suppose anyone from a different area would think I have, and vice versa.

My Auntie has lived in America for over 50 years and she still has her Yorkshire accent, Yorkshire accent with an American twang

Btw......


There are some great accents up here in the Scottish Borders..in fact tbh they have a whole distinct dialect.

The Hawick dialect is really broad and you practically need a translator
when you first live up this way.

I love some of the expressions too such as 'next again day' for tomorrow or 'back of 8' instead of after 8.

There's loads of distinct Scots words still used day to day.

My brother out law has lived in Edinburgh for about 30 years now
He has some great turns of phrase

Me: Did you have a good trip?
B-o-l: Aye brand nu Rhiaaaannn brand nuuu

He calls the Police the Poh liss!
