Yes, I'm a born again atheist, but despite that I can certainly appreciate church buildings of most architectural styles.

I suppose if I have a favourite, it would be Gothic and most Romanesque examples, but some modern buildings can be attractive too.

Quarr Abbey, near Ryde, IoW. Designed by a Belgian monk/architect. Two others in France and Belgium.

That is quite a distinctive architectural style, isn't it.

Unfortunately we didn't get time to go inside but have just been looking at some googled pics. Amazing!

Indeed! I feel a bit sorry for the church as I'm sure it often gets overlooked. Unlike The Magpie!.

On the other hand, there have been stories about coffins in the churchyard appearing in the adjacent cliff face due to erosion.

Perhaps that's what gave Bram Stoker his idea to include Whitby in his Dracula novel.
