Re: Hippys in the UK?

Hippies were the next thing after the Mods and the Rockers.
I was a Mod first of all then I was a Hippy.
Changed my avatar to prove it. The photo is me at my hippy
friends wedding in Leeds. Cant believe it was 45 years ago.
Music was fab in those days and the Beatles helped to future the
Hippy look in fashion.
My favs were Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Captain Beefheart, Free.
Luckily there were many more groups to go see as they toured
the UK. Plus the festival on the Isle of Wight started in 1968. That
had your favourite Bob Dylan lol and Jefferson Airplane. Then
the 1970 had my Fave Jimi Hendrix, Free and the Doors.
I know we had to copy the USA to be Hippies but we were also lucky
that we also got the great music of the time and I personally saw
lots of them in concerts.
Great times before the responsibility of kids and being a housewife.
Winkle Pickers were the pointy front of shoes. I used to wear them
but they killed your toes so probably one of the reasons I wear
sandals most of the time now I am a senior.

The Beatles took the music forward from their Rocker roots in Hamburg and were not considered Rockers

I know nothing about Hendrix except that in 2006 Dimbola Lodge caused a storm on the Isle of Wight....
