New Car Tax Rates

As of the 1st of April 2017, the new CO2 based Tax bands come into force on new cars, what this means in real terms to us is, the Wife has her new car on March 1st, it has an emissions value of 159g/km, the Tax rate for that in March is £180.00 per year, if she waited until April, the first year would cost £500.00, and £450.00 per year for the next 5 years, would this influence you on your choice of new car?

Edited, this is the Road Fund Tax, not Tax on the car itself.

Sorry.....didn't answer the question.
yes it would put me off......they offer incentives to some and punish others.

They'll kill the new car market for some manufacturers.

Re: New Car Tax Rates

Yes even the cars that are zero tax will be affected, from April 1st a car that is nothing in road tax will now cost£140 per year current bands will be unaffected, but its only a matter of time before these rates will be altered IMO,

I thought they'd be intelligent enough to understand lowering the rates will tempt those that dont pay to pay.....or at least lower the numbers...nope...they increase them instead.

Hi

AArgh, wash your mouth out townie.

Put it on general tax and lower fuel duties.

Lower fuel duties will make our industry more competitive and the high earners will pay for it.

Definition of a high earner.

Anyone who earns more than me.

PS, I borrowed that definition from Purwell.
