Hospital Prescriptions.

Hi

Another example of the madness.

If you are an inpatient you get a white prescription, fulfilled by the Hospital Pharmacy, it is funded.

If you are an outpatient, even an emergency, and not admitted, you get a green prescription which is not funded, it comes out of the Hospital Budget.

You have to take it a pharmacy, it is hand written.

If you cannot drive and cannot get to a pharmacy otherwise, they then have to send someone to take the prescription for you and bring the medicine back to your house.

That is very expensive, far more expensive than prescribing in hospital.

My urgent meds, prescribed on Monday, arrived today.

Re: Hospital Prescriptions.

I fail to see the reason behind the repeat prescription delivery service that's advertised all the time on TV.
Somebody pays the extra expense, and I think it's us all.

Not that I am against the service in itself, but how is it profitable enough to fund advertisements ?

Hi

Repeats are repeats.

Try getting a one off or a repeat in a Rural Area.

You cannot.

Re: Hospital Prescriptions.

I got an even better one. The Respiratory Consultant handed me a prescription for a new inhaler. Took said prescription to hospital pharmacy, they didn't have the inhaler in stock and said it would be some days. Took prescription to my local 'Boots' chemist, they couldn't fill the prescription either as it was on a hospital prescription, took prescription to my GP to convert to normal prescription form which then 'Boots' were able to fill.

I never thought of that, UJ. I’ve waited ages in the past at the hospital pharmacy.
