First Dates

They were just asking on 'Loose Women' what sort of things we would like to know about on a first date.

Apparently something like 80% of women ask a chap what he earns on a first date!

Is this true? I can't believe someone would be rude enough to ask a man that when you have only just met him. I think that is beyond shocking.

Has 'courting' really changed that much?

What would would be important to you if you went on a date again?

What would the men be looking for, as well as us ladies?

No that's just rude IMO my queries when I met my husband were more about his attitude to animals as I was a vegetarian I wanted someone on relatively same wavelengths as me. I didn't mind him eating meat but I don't think I'd be a good match for a hunting fishing type. The temptation to shout murderer as they arrived home would be too great

Yes, I'd think it extremely rude too, Julie.

I would also think it would immediately give the chap a good insight into her character!

Yes I think you are right.

I have a friend who has never married she's about five years younger than me and still looking, but her ideal man will never come along she has such a long shopping list the poor man has to be a bit of a saint to come up to her standard !

I always have my first dates at the end of Ramadan when they drop the price from $10 a kilo to $8 a kilo.

My husband was the only guy I have ever been involved with, but we didn't exactly date in the traditional sense of that word. He was nearly 18 and I was 15 when we met. He used to spend most of his university holidays at my home as my parents knew his much older brother and sister-in-law. We married 4 years after our first meeting.

I looked at Mr M across a crowded bar and thought I wish someone would introduce me to a man like that- and somebody did.

I'm a good listener but could do without somebody who does 90% of the talking. 60-70% is fine but a chap's got to get a word in sometimes!

Polite to the bar/waiting staff wherever we might be.
