Breast Screening

Did anyone hear the news today about 450,000 women over the age of 68, not notified of their final breast screening?
Some mess up in the system apparently.
That's a heck of a lot of women left out!

Re: Breast Screening

It is bad error, but surely women know, or should know, when their next routine screening is due, and if they weren't contacted should have found out why?

My last routine one is due next year.

Re: Breast Screening

Not something to mess around with ladies, killed my sister aged 34. Be proactive and bother whoever you heed until you get what you require.

Re: Breast Screening

The mortality risk is very small because only a tiny fraction of that number would have a cancerous growth. All the people I know with breast cancer developed it between 40 and 55.

good for you knowing when yours is due but lots of people don't make a note of the date last attended because they are told they will be sent for again, people have trusted in the system, however most people won't trust it again after hearing this

Re: Breast Screening

I must admit, I always the keep the letter with the results in.

I file it away along with smear test results and bowel screening, so I know when my last tests for any of these things were.

Hi

Many do not realise.

We need to look after the vulnerable, not criticise them.
