I wish you well with your treatment Ffosse
I have avoided your thread so far today having heard the same phrase yesterday about the young wife of one of my son's best friends. She has cancer of the tongue and will have it removed next week. A horrible prospect for her with two small children.

That’s terrible Meg. In the hospital I go to there is a special ward for teenagers. As bad as cancer is for adults, I think it's worse the younger you are, a young adult, a teenager, a child.

I preferred it when I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma - that could be cured and in my case I believed it was.

Now I face an uncertain future with no real sign of how many months/years I may have left. I'll be 52 in July, and if I was to live 'til 60 I still wouldn't fancy any of it like it is now - treatment, chemo, CT Scans, MRI scans, radiotherapy - it doesn't feel like I have any quality of life and I don't want years of that.

Of course, they could come up with a miracle cure but I doubt it in the time I have left. Meanwhile my condition and chemo leaves me more prone not just to infections but to heart disease and stroke.

I don't really enjoy any of my life - I'm happiest when I'm asleep (and this I still can although it's often truncated).
My daughter's father-in-law was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma a couple of years ago, he is making excellent progress now, thank goodness.

Meg, that is awful. I’ve never heard of cancer of the tongue before but hope all goes well.

Val when I go to the dentist he always checks my mouth for cancer and makes me stick my tongue out.
'N' is stage 1 , I hope they have caught it before it has spread.

Same with my dentist Meg, stick your tongue to the left, then the right, put your tongue out then up over the up over the top lip. What we must look like I hate to think.

I wonder how Old Git (Stefan) is, his wife had her tongue removed through cancer of the tongue didn't she

My dentist has never asked me to stick my tongue out but I guess he checks the rest of my mouth when he checks my teeth.
