So excited to get this photo! I was standing in the backyard bemoaning the lack of birds...when these two flew into the yard! It is very difficult to get multi birds sharp on auto, and as it was quite dark I had to put the ISO up higher than I would normally - and here is the result which I was pretty happy with. They are both juvenile Crimson rosellas race elegans. When they become adults their colouring changes to primarily red. You can see the top bird is starting to change colours. Taken with Canon 6D DSLR 1/1000 sec; f 5.6 and ISO 3200

These active noisy birds inhabit humid coastal rainforests and wet sclerophyll forests particularly those with figs and other fruit producing trees. They live in small groups during the breeding season but then tend to congregate in larger flocks of up to 20 birds afterwards and will gather in the crown of a tree often completely stripping it of fruit before moving on.
During rainfall, they also swing upside down from the perches to bathe. Figbirds are found across the northern and eastern regions of Australia from the Kimberley around to the New South Wales/ Victoria border.

I captured this little beauty just before I was smashed by the rain and hail.
The smell of the rain in the air was magical, the noise was awesome and the light show was spectacular.
I love the storm season, and I am looking forward to the next one.
