These active noisy birds inhabit humid coastal rainforests and wet sclerophyll forests particularly those with figs and other fruit producing trees. They live in small groups during the breeding season but then tend to congregate in larger flocks of up to 20 birds afterwards and will gather in the crown of a tree often completely stripping it of fruit before moving on.
During rainfall, they also swing upside down from the perches to bathe. Figbirds are found across the northern and eastern regions of Australia from the Kimberley around to the New South Wales/ Victoria border.
