Yes, it is a pain, I only use it for putting photos on forums, and it does drive me mad sometimes.

Tess if you look on the Internet, you can get free Photoshop to download, don't know how safe they are though, as PC world put mine on for me.

I have Xerox Phaser 6010 Printer.

It does not sing and dance, but prints beautifully only
I have a separate scanner too
The Cartridges are expensive but quite large and last a year.

My Nikon Coolpix Camera includes software for prints as
well.
