Pay the full in work benefits only to those working the standard week of 36 hours.

Those working 16 hours would then get 16 36ths of the full benefit, or less than half.

Benefits were designed for people who cannot work, not to allow people to stay at home out of choice.
I've a better answer. Pay people properly and they wouldn't need benefits at all.

I remember the days when you could walk out of one job on a Friday afternoon, and walk into a new one on Monday morning, Those days are long gone. Not possible now.

Neither would I, but for many it's not an option.
I have also been there and done that. Never again.

Hi

It sounds simple doesn't it?

It is not quite as simple as that.

If you are in London or the South East or Bath etc and in a low paid job you would need a vast increase in pay to get off Benefits.

This apples to all those in the Public Sector as well as the Private Sector.

The NHS would find costs soaring, there are many low paid jobs in the NHS, Social Care costs would rocket.

Social care costs are paid out of Council Tax, so that rockets as well.

It is one big vicious circle.
