Re: Please Recommend A Tiled Floor Cleaner, So My Dog Doesn't Slip!

I use an all purpose household cleaner for my kitchen floor.

I don't know what your floor is Art but mine's ceramic tiles and it works fine on them and they're not at all slippery.

Re: Please Recommend A Tiled Floor Cleaner, So My Dog Doesn't Slip!

Artangel, I am so sorry about your pup. I had the same experience with one of my dogs a few years ago and broke my heart to see him on the decline. My greatest fear was that he would lose his footing when I was away from the house. I ended up putting rubber runners everywhere, but agree that the corners can become a hazard so I used double sided tape to make sure the corners wouldn't curl.

I have also seen the product Swimfeeders is talking about installed on a floor. It works very well, but because it is a product that permanently changes the surface of your floor, it is permanent, so you might want to have it applied professionally by a flooring company.

In the meantime, I used a soapy ammonia to clean the floors and remove any slick residue.

I hope you find an option that works well for your sweet poodle.

It's almost as bad as having a youngster like Elsie who careers around like a loon slipping on the laminate I was sure we'd have a broken hip so mats everywhere, that seems to have done the trick. I'm currently putting an enormous one down in the bedroom, it was cheaper than carpeting but will fit like a glove when it's down.

What about Flash? (Ah, ah, it works miracles)

Most floor cleaners contain a polish because they want to make you tiles look lovely and shiny, but Flash might work. We use it on our hall tiles and it's not slippery (unless they get wet of course). You could try a few tiles and see.

Be careful with zoflora it's highly toxic for dogs they can even get it through their skin ! Any of the disinfectants that turn white in water are broadly the same, we found that out with tcp on a cut, made our Elsie very sick.

Thanks Julie

I wasn't aware of that and have removed it from my post. I'm guessing that Flash is ok considering it's a dog that advertises it.

Or maybe just hot water would do it.

Have you tried using a floor steam cleaner, I have one as my dog sneezes at any type of cleaning product, the steamer I use only uses the steam water to clean the tiled floor, dries quickly as well. Hope this helps your fur baby

Thank You for all your replies and great suggestions.
It's Flash Clean and Shine floor cleaner that has caused my problem.
I have now bought Ciff floor cleaner to try. I wasn't sure if Flash All purpose cleaner was ok for floors? I know it says for hard surfaces but there was no floor illustration on the label.
I have put a towel on the floor near his food and water.

How do you stop the towel sliding about though?
