Hi
It is not a matter of not having faith in the decision to leave, which I still fully support.
It is a matter of missed opportunities due to Political incompetence.
We are still cutting Border Control, the most recent thing being the UK abolishing Landing Cards.
When I started work we inspected every HGV and container arriving, now we do not.
I find this bizarre if we are to bring back control of our Borders.
There is an assumption that Government Employees are Remainers, not all are, many of my ex colleagues, like myself, voted to leave.
We know what needs to be done, not only on Immigration, but also on Customs and Tariffs.
We want Brexit to be good for the UK and trust me on this, we do not want the UK to pay a penny more than we have to to Juncker and Co.
I will admit that I am a boring git, focused solely on the things we need to do to make a success of leaving.
I am, like many of Ex Colleagues, totally disgusted with the fact that we are now having to ask the EU for a transition period.
We could have delayed Article 50 for a year, to the end of the 7 year EU Budget cycle, which we signed up for, and left with everything in place, not owing them a penny.
We would have then have had all the systems in place to collect every penny in Tariffs from the EU and have had agreement with all our Trade Agreements we have as part of the EU.
A win, win for the UK.
The boot would then have been on the other foot in the negotiations with the EU.
Up yours Juncker and Co, take it or leave it.
It is the Yorkshire in me, I object to paying the EU a penny.
I want to win this, not lose it.
