I do if I'm not likely to be overheard. I don't like to hear it from others so I' m conscious that others may be the same.
I do like words like "zounds", "gadzooks" and other ancient oaths not heard much these days.
I do use one Africaans word that's very rude, if anyone looks shocked I just shrug and ask, " what's wrong with a box?"

Yes, I do swear but tend not to in public, but living alone I frequently say "bugger it" when things go wrong or I drop something.

Only when joking, and never in front of the kids. I feel blessed none of us do here I think it instantly coursens a conversation and can lead to violence. If you swear normally where can you go if you get really angry ?

Swearing doesn't cause violence....violent people(that probably swear) cause violence....or those with a sensitive nature.

I'd like to know who decided what words are swear words.

If I'm working on something and things go wrong, I will mutter every swear word under the sun and some that are made up on the spur of the moment. I rarely swear in public but would definitely let rip if someone upset me.

My grandmother was a strict "Chapel" lady, leader of the women's group, pianist etc. and very Victorian in her manner. Following a series of mini strokes, she swore profusely in her conversation, what her chapel visitors must have thought I dont know.
