"Hello! Thank you for visiting. Let me know if I can Help"

We have just had a lot of new Shops/Stores opened, in our new Town Development.

Trouble is, when I went in the first one, two gorgeous young assistants rushed over to welcome me in.

I thanked them and said "I'm fine Thanks", and they backed off.

As I wandered the shelves I felt the pressure of their wanting to help me to enjoy my visit.

I felt so overpowered that I had to leave.

They met me at the door and asked me if I enjoyed my visit.

At the next store, the same thing happened.

Then at the next.

Then the next.

And so on.

It's a bit like "Stepford Wives" syndrome.
Why do I need all of this attention?

It Really freaks me out!

That would drive me up the wall too, Ted.

If I want to wander round, I would prefer to do it without being pestered by over-enthusiastic staff.

Yes, it seems to be the in thing now doesn't it?

I've noticed that staff are now being trained to do a hard sell. But I guess a lot of these people may make money on commission these days and there is a lull in spending, particularly for shops that have to compete the with the net. Maybe as it's a new shop they are pretty desperate for sales too.

It's all part of the customer feedback (no such thing as a negative one apparently. .only ones to help us "improve")/self assesment/development plan mindset..
If i get asked to fill in a customer experience questionnaire online again I may just reach my virtual hand in to the master board and wring it's microchip neck
