It’s too far back to remember but I guess it could have been Cliff Richard ‘Livin’ Doll’.

I remember all those songs , wonderful music .
My first record was Lulu shout , I played it so much and so loud my dad smashed it in front of me , I'd saved for ages to buy it and was very upset and cried for ages

Re: The first 45 I ever bought

I have never really been a single buyer, only amassing around half a dozen since my first, which was...

As the person in the record shop had to unpack a box to give it to me, I was probably the first person in town to have it. It still sounds good.

Re: The first 45 I ever bought

There was a group of us who had a 'club hut' with a record player in it. We all chipped in a bit of cash to buy singles. As I remember, the first one we bought was Shakin' All Over by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, so that was partly my first 45.

A year later, I heard Acker Bilk playing Stranger On The Shore and that was the first one I bought on my own. I also bought a clarinet.

Had to buy a record player then.

All Shook Up Elvis Presley.
Actually it was a 78 rpm. Probably one of the last made. We only had an old wind up gramophone at the time.

Whew ... I don't feel so bad now ... but I'm still not telling. Some things are just best kept secret.
