Rawnsley's reforms of the NHS - now rubbished by experts.

As we tried to tell this scumbag 'nasty party' government at the time, Andrew Rawnsley's (the scumbag's Health Secretary at the time) reforms to the Health Service were unworkable and would be both damaging and a risk to the existence of the Health Service per se.

Now it appears that our claims are supported by 'experts' who have 'rubbished' Rawnsley's reforms.

This is such a biased article. Privatisation by the back door with "any willing provider" was brought in by labour. This was part of a wider plan to increase patient choice so people wouldn't be stuck with the NHS provider they had on their doorstep if the service there wasn't what they wanted. Procurement rules mean that services have to be tendered and private organisations can bid alongside NHS bodies. This applies to all public sector bodies not just the NHS and it's down to UK and EU law. Both labour and the tories have/have had long term plans to move towards increased privatisation of services.

There are far better reasons to rubbish the health & social care act.

the 'reforms' the article referred to were specifically those brought in by the scumbag 'nasty party' in 2012.

An extract from that article:

The Labour leader highlighted how Virgin Healthcare had been paid £1.5m even after its bid, to provide children’s health services in Surrey, was rejected.

Speaking moments later, Mr Eustice, the environment minister, admitted there was a need for “more integrated approaches” and to remove “some of the duplication” created by the 2012 Act.

Hush your mouth Longdogs, Labour have never ever made a mistake ever in the history of the world, and all of their members are honest, decent, upright tax paying citizens who have never done any kind of wrong to anyone and are kind and fair to all creatures.....

It's true that Labour's mistakes are few, that's because all they do is talk about it and never actually do anything. The current bunch of lefty layabouts are no different.

Well you'll have to look a bit harder, because there are still many of us on the 'left' who do still care, unlike those scumbags in the 'nasty party' who only want to make money for themselves when they try to privatise bits of it.

It's down to the law and that law is beyond the Health and social care act legislation. See the details of NHS and procurement in the link below. The only way to get rid of this is to get rid of the internal market and just allow a totally opaque process where managers can award contracts to their best mates to prevail. At least the current law forces transparency and ensures a level playing field without corruption.

Virgin must have had a good case which would demonstrate the rules were not followed in that instance. Of course it's wrong that fat cat companies like that can win so much compensation from a public body. But at least it hasn't done their image much good.

We should be more worried about AI and automation than privatisation. That's going to really transform services into something unrecognisable from the original model.
