Re: Over 50's Wales club (part 6)

Thankfully son no1 got back to Wales last night.
Not snowing so far this morning, bitterly cold wind. The snow's drifted against the garden fence where it's quite deep.Only a few cars have passed on the road,no buses running today.
Made a big saucepan of cawl yesterday so got enough for a couple more days.Got plenty of dog food in.
Keep warm and safe.

Re: Over 50's Wales club (part 6)

That's it then, we are officially snowed in. Micky can't get the tractor up the lane to the road and my road is drifted in well and truly. No carer's in or out, I'm on duty and the only carer who is here is staying, bless her. I made a huge casserole for the lambing family but if they can't get here, we'll eat it!
Apparently the River Wye has frozen over - that hasn't happened for a long time.

Snowed again last night and snowing a bit again this morning, but not quite so windy.
Hope son no1 can bring me a couple of things from the shops later.
Dog none too pleased with the snow,he used to like it in his younger days-too old to play in it now.
Keep safe and warm.

Re: Over 50's Wales club (part 6)

Feel sorry for the family who are stuck at Groesvaen. Micky dug his lane out yesterday (drifts over the top of the hedge) and it has filled back in again by this morning. The water to the sheds has frozen so carrying water to the sheep by the bucketful - never ending. And ewes and baby lambs stuffed in every corner.

I have a noble carer who is going to stay with me until the agency can get her out and another one in, which will certainly not be today since I can see a drift out of the window which is right across the road.

Counting my blessings though, oil tank full, electricity still on and food in the pantry.

Poor you Sue ,lucky with the carer though. I remember getting snowed in on duty in Singleton . A patient who lived locally was called in for a minor op because most lists had been cancelled was so grateful he gave me £50 to share out . Most of the nurses who were sleeping overnight and the Porters went up to the Vivian Arms and had a good night . We made mini snowmen and put them in the freezers to show to patients next morning

The snow is slowly thawing-can see a bit of green on the lawn.
Been going stir crazy in the house. Will be glad to get out tomorrow, going to have an eye test at 9.30.
Thank goodness it's not cold out-quite balmy to what it's been like!
Have a good day.
