I have other watches but much lesser pieces - the most expensive being around £500. I'm going to sell a few of these.

It's not the money, really, just that I have cancer and needed to cheer myself up - I may never have got to experience such a nice watch.

It's the same one Steve McQueen wore in Le Mans and the same watch that features in Breaking Bad.

When I saw this I thought, "What a looney!" until I read the bit about cheering yourself up. I can relate to that - I bought myself an Akubra hat when I was recovering from my first back operation. It cheered me up no end but I am not sure I would want to spend $8K on a watch but why not? if you like that sort of thing (and it is your money after all).

It's a nice watch and an investment because if you do get fed up you can always sell it for a decent price. But do get it insured.

Re: I spent 4k on a watch

Vacations cost a fairly good sum of money, yet when it's over, most of us don't have anything as nice as a watch to show for it!

Good for you for treating yourself and I hope you get plenty of enjoyment from it.

Just, whatever you do, make sure you're not late. .

Fair play buddy,

Glad you went for it and are enjoying it.
I'm a bit if a watch lunatic. Never owned a Tag yet though.

I have a Rolex Submariner two tone, Breitling Navitimer two tone and an Omega Planet Ocean chrono amongst others.
Mind you, the Rolex is the biggest pile of poop I've ever owned in that price bracket. I only keep it as it keeps sneaking up in value. Otherwise I'd have got rid many years ago..

That's a nice collection you have.

It's funny how a lot of people say that those with expensive mechanicals are mad - a £10 Casio would do the job and more accurately. They just don't get it.

What does your watch do which is so special and worth the £4k you spent on it?
