Commonwealth Games

I wondered if anyone would like to see some first hand photos of the Games.

My daughter has sent these from Australia.
She and her partner live on the Gold Coast and the Games are practically on their doorstep!

They've been lucky enough to get tickets and have seen some amazing feats.

Re: Commonwealth Games

Sorry I don't know how to make them bigger, and the gymnasts seem to have toppled over sideways!

Badminton, and a fantastic sunset over the stadium

Re: Commonwealth Games

I am not sure about being "lucky enough" to get tickets. They couldn't give them away except for a few events like the swimming and the opening ceremony. Just before the start of the games there were over 200000 tickets unsold with pleas for people to go out and support the games.

There is a lot of discussion about the future of these games because there is just no real competition in a lot of it with some of the best athletes in the world missing.

I say that as someone who's interest in sport is almost nil.

BTW an English village has lost its idiot. There is some buffoon wandering around the Pacific claiming to be the next king.

Please come and get him and take him home.

Lovely pictures Ruthio

If the games were ever to be held here in NI, Id be there like a shot.

No where near as exciting as The Olympics but still its great to see these youngster show their stuff, don't forget these are our future Olympians

I love the games, I sit up and watch for a while at night and whilst Im home I have them on catch up in the afternoons

When I said "lucky enough" I meant time off work and weekends together to attend events.
You say you have nil interest in sport, but my two have been absolutely thrilled with what they've seen.

It's one thing to see glimpses on TV but quite another to see it in real life as it were.

One third of the Cameroons team has gone missing.

The Minister for Putting Innocent People in Detention, Mr Potatohead Dutton said in January,

“Our message to the 0.5% of people who might think they can overstay a visa, or not act within the conditions of that visa, is that Australia has very tough laws and they need to abide by the laws,”
