Protective dingo mum

This is the companion image to the picture of her pup, also uploaded today. I encountered this one while walking along a dry creek bed west of Bowen in north Queensland. She was not too happy to see me and made it known. That is quite unusual for a dingo as they don't often bark. A few seconds later I realised why when I heard the faint cry of her pup in the sand a few metres further down the creek. The pup was alone and pretty weak so I suspect the last survivor from a litter in tough times. I had just enough time to shoot a couple of frames of Mum and the pup before I left them in peace.

Firefly season

14 year old Mullumbimby photographer Charlie Gill stumbled across fireflys down by Mullumbimby Creek in his backyard last night.
He used a 30second exposure to capture them.
