Nothing 'upper class' about that at all - cheese and biscuits are served in some restaurants as an alternative to sweets, and I prefer wines to beer - quality taking precedent over quantity.

I thought that vodka and black bread would be on the menu for the ardent Marxist, not port and quality cheese, I tend to forget though that you are an apparatchik
