And I might lose it. You are much more likely to lose money that win any.

Re: Are you a winner?

I won a Music Centre back in the 1980s in my children’s school raffle .... other than that it’s been a few small premium bond wins.

Re: Are you a winner?

Back in the 80's I won £19k on Vernons pools, had I had the same numbers on Littlewoods that week it would have been £120k! Apart from that, I won a "Visit Belfast" competition last year but thought it was a scam so told them to stuff it.....

Re: Are you a winner?

I don't take part in things that would involve my winning anything (except premium bonds) I won't risk spending and losing what little money I have on a gamble .
I don't think 'free' competitions are worth entering, there is too small a chance of winning and most prizes I wouldn't want anyway.

I generally don't win although I am always convinced I will. The only thing I can think of is that I won a car phone back in the day when they were rare. I would make very important calls on it. Mainly questions, such as 'Shall I bring fish and chips in?.

About 30 years ago I bet £1.10p in a 4 horse accumulator (I think it was called a Yankee) and I won £153.

Re: Are you a winner?

Winning the photo comp on here has been the height of it

I do have a flutter on the horses at the weekend but seeing as it's only £2 bets, the most I win is the cost of my Saturday afternoon out

The only other things I buy are charity raffle tickets. I won an overnight stay at a B&B one year, only it was the one at the end of my road so I never claimed it lol

Strange how nearly a hundred years ago gangsters made their fortunes out of fruit machines, booze, the numbers racket and prostitution....
Nowadays with taxation, Governments (The real gangsters) cream off the profits of the first three and the public still fall for it.

Re: Are you a winner?

Not me, I never win anything.

My daughter-in-law entered a draw run by Radio 2 for tickets to see a recording of War Horse, with the BBC Orchestra yesterday in Coventry Cathedral. She had checked her email every morning, to see if she had been lucky, nothing! Yesterday at 4.15 p.m. she logged on to pick up an email and there was one from the BBC informing her that she had two tickets for that evening, There was no way that they could get there at such short notice. She was gutted and furious with the BBC only giving a couple of hours notice.
