Ah yes Mad Magazine, I used to buy 'Mad' for a Jewish chap I was apprenticed to in the early 60's, nothing unusual about that almost everyone in the Jewellery making game was Jewish back then, of course he paid for it I just went out for it. Anyway he introduced me to the magazine, he would pass them on to me when he finished with them.
I lapped up the wacky humour and often copied some of the jokes and used them but none of my mates found them funny at that time.
Mad Magazine was way ahead of it's time and I'm sure the likes of John Cleese, Michael Palin, and the rest of the Monty Python gang were fans of it too.
I remember one particular copy said on the front cover something like this.
"This is the first page of the USA edition, and it is the first and last page of the Jewish edition"
