Food Advertising.

Hi

Following on from the sugar tax.

Obesity is a serious issue here in the UK.

It is not just amongst adults,we have many obese children.

The TV is full of adverts for chicken nuggets, McDonalds etc.

Ready made stuff, processed, high calorie .

The kids clamour for it.

Should we restrict the advertising for it?

I must admit that I do take the pretendies to McDonalds, but that is a rare occasion.

They are both very active,Mum home cooks every day, with loads of vegetables.

They both look like whippets, no fat on them at all.

Re: Food Advertising.

We live in a world of plenty Swims, we should have been careful what we wished for. It's like something from a fantasy.....When life was poor and food was rare we struggled to build a better life for everyone, but with it comes great responsibility, sadly lacking in some people.

Re: Food Advertising.

Rather than restrict advertising they should restrict fast food outlets on the high street. It's all very well thinking about food but if you have it conveniently located on your way home you're going to make fantasy a reality.

What has happened is that fast food places are really profitable so they are the only small businesses that can afford to pay business rates to stay on the high street. It's not like they run out of hungry customers. But then what do you end up with - an empty high street.

I haven't had a KFC since I was 21 and it made me feel my young and healthy body was heading for a coronary then. I can't believe such places are still on the high street and not charged double or triple for access to a bottomless market of unhappy souls who want to fill that loveless hole in their heart with comfort food.
