Thatcher moved the NHS to competition between providers which started the move towards the commissioner/provider split. Labour brought in privatisation with "any willing provider", the tories have continued it with "any qualified provider". These policies mean that private companies can tender alongside NHS organisations and if they win they take over the contract. It also meant people had a choice of providers. That appears to be changing with this model.I've just been reading about accountable care on the King's fund website. It seems a move away from all the above and is being piloted in certain areas. I don't understand what it's to do with privatisation, but I do think they should consult if they have promised that.
If you are on the map of pilots have you noticed an improvement in care as is reported?
