Re: No Deal is better than a Bad Deal.

Hi

The next round of negotiations has been delayed by a week.

Apparently this is due to a major speech Theresa May is going to give the week after next.

Cue another week or so of pure speculation on what kind of Brexit we are seeking.

The German Elections are on the 24th September, so Merkel is not interested in Brexit at the moment, she has to win and then form a new Coalition Government , which could take weeks.

Time is marching on.

None of us actually know what's going on behind closed doors, just the other week they said no progress and it was deadlocked then later in the day the negotiators revealed a lot of progress had been made.

Best thing to do is just wait and see what they do manage to do.

Yes. I'd like to think that this apparent lack of 'progress' is simply a matter of our negotiators keeping their cards close to their chests. That would be a very sensible thing to do, after all.

On the other side, the EU negotiators are not actually doing any negotiating; just threatening and demanding with no sign of any movement. Are they keeping their cards close to their chests? Is it that they have no real bargaining power at all, and resort to demanding of us enormous 'leaving fees' without any qualification of how they are arrived at?

It has already been reported in the press that our negotiators are preparing to walk away with nothing - and, importantly, giving nothing either.

The EU mandarins think that we have no choice but to submit.

Hi

If we are prepared to walk away with nothing why on Earth are we asking for a Transition Period.

This the question that I, personally, cannot resolve.
