Re: Winter heating costs

Ah yes, the winter heating costs in sunny, sub-tropical Queensland.
I close the windows.

Wouldn't it be easier to move to the south of France? (while you still can)

Alas I live further south than Pumistone so I have to turn my fan heater on a few times in winter

It's the only time of year I recommend a middle floor flat we rarely use the heating having flats all around us we have fantastic insulation and benefit from everyone else's heating being on.

Cold Weather Payment
Cold weather payments are offered to those on certain benefits in the event that the area they live in has extreme cold weather.

If you’re eligible you will receive £25 for each seven consecutive day period that the weather hits zero degrees celsius or below between 1st November and 31st March.

Re: Winter heating costs

The Warm Home project recommended huge amounts of insulation in my lofts and cavity wall insulation. After that I had big problems with the cavity wall insulation and the people who came to inspect were thoroughly sceptical about the quality of the work they'd done. It's all done with grants and if your council promote the scheme to their residents, they get a commission............
