Yep, agree and couldn't give a dam whether I'm called 'old fashioned' or not

And if we are being honest here some of those patterns are a lot nicer on the eye than some of the garbage you see being worn by the so called 'trendy' front of camera muppets, not to mention the 'lemon like' peasants as they try to be like their drug taking, moronic, TV idols

I told one of my knitting friends that she could come over and look at my wool stash to see if she wanted any.
I did point out that she would have to wrestle it from my cold, dead hands...

My mum was a super knitter, and many of those patterns look very familiar!
Alas, I didn't get any of her knitting skills!
Have fun with those, and the wool too!

P.S. I would keep all the wool too, cos ya just never know do ya!

Same here my Mum could knit easily without looking unlike me.
She knitted the most beautiful christening robe for my children in two ply wool with scalloped edges I have it somewhere i hope .

In the past I have done lots of knitting and still have a few home made sweaters.

Anyway, I don't know what you are laughing, those designs will be the height of fashion in a few years... when the designers have run our if new ideas.

My Mam had "Stitchcraft" magazine every month.I've still got a couple of 60's editions. Some of the patterns in there are a sight to be behold.I can remember her knitting socks on 3 needles.

Re: Nan's Knitting (photo heavy)-did we really look like this?

I thought some of the captions under the photos were priceless!
The only problem I can see with knitting some is the wool used is mostly 3 or 4 ply, in some cases I found ones for 2 ply. They must have taken an age to knit and so painful on the fingers!

Lots of the baby patterns are for quickerknit, which is halfway between 4 ply and double knitting, I'm not sure if you can still buy it and as I have none in that mountain of mine, I'd rather not spend money on it.
So I'll have to try to convert the measurements to suit double knitting for my great grandchildren.
I may need advice from my friends at Knit and Knatter club

I have quite a few of ex MIL's sewing patterns too, very stylish, I'll post some of those later.

Oh and some crimplene, cream with gold pattern! Remember that fabric?
