Scottish Baby Box

All new mums in Scotland are to be issued with a free baby box. Adopted (copied) from Finland. Only problem is if she has quads - four boxes ?

Come on mums and grannies - what do you think ?

Re: Scottish Baby Box

What's a baby box?

Is it a box full of early necessities for a new baby?

Re: Scottish Baby Box

Why? Don't they get child benefit?

Just Googled.... said to be worth £45 each?

Edited:

Hang on... it says 'they will of 'offered' and parents need to apply. Ministers do not yet know how many mothers will request them'.

Re: Scottish Baby Box

When my children were born, baby packs were given out to new mums, useful items including a baby book.

I had twins but was only given one pack

When I had my twins I received child benefit for the eldest twin only (there was only 6 minutes between them) .... until the system changed some time later.

They were born in 1973 Pesta, then it was know as Family Allowance and it was just over £1 a week for the first child only.

Child Benefit was introduced in 1975 and then the payment was £1.50 for each child .... which helped a lot

Maybe it was for Maternity Hospitals in certain areas Mups, I don't know I know after the babies were born, a big bag full of useful things were left on everyone's bed.

What year was your son born? ...... they may have stopped handing them out later.
