Terry's chocolate orange

What on earth have they done to these iconic choccies ?

Dropping grace off this morning I was offered a slice and it's like dog chocolate with a nasty oily aftertaste !

Not the lovely stuff I remember

Yuk !

Re: Terry's chocolate orange

The American owners of Terry's Chocolate Orange, Mondelez International, which took over Terry's in 2012, have reduced the size from 175g to 157g and moved production to Poland.
That may account for the change of taste, too .....

Everybody knows American chocolate is crap and tastes crap.
So don't buy it.
They ruined Cadbury's.
Just don't buy it.
If enough people voted with their feet they'd soon get the message.

Re: Terry's chocolate orange

Not enough cocoa solids in some of today's well-known brands of chocolate. I think Cadbury's Dairy Milk is going back to its original recipe after a drop in sales and many complaints. Saw some Galaxy choc on special offer a few days ago and treated myself. Wish I hadn't bothered. What was once a silky smooth melt in the mouth rival to CDM is virtually tasteless and leaves a horrible waxy like coating in the mouth.

My favourite of Whole Nut is now too pricey so don't bother with that anymore. The almond nut chocolate sold at Lidl is very nice and a decent price too so if I get the urge for some choccy I usually buy that.

Re: Terry's chocolate orange

My type 2 diabetes makes it unwise for me to indulge in any chocolate cravings, however it sounds like I'm not really missing anything... I read recently that Nestle are to switch production of Blue Riband and Kit Kat from the U.K. to Poland. Those products could also be affected in a similar way?

Re: Terry's chocolate orange

See the thing is, what we call chocolate isn’t chocolate but is protected under Eu law or something. Our chocolate has very little cocoa , it’s mostly fat and sugar

To conform to a world wide consumer they have to mess it about

Then the really mess it up, they add palm oil as it’s fat as it’s cheap
