That was then, this now - some of us are better informed and empowered nowadays .....

Nevertheless, vested interests still have the power to control the government and override the people's will:

Fracking given UK go-ahead as Lancashire council rejection overturned by government

https://www.theguardian.com/environm...-is-overturned

Communities secretary, Sajid Javid has accepted an appeal from Cuadrilla against an earlier decision to turn down their plans to frack on the Fylde, provoking outrage from local groups, environmentalists and politicians.

bakerman says,

Here ! Here ! That's giving them what for. Good for you, Old Grey Fox.

P.S. Always take note: Most of the protestors oppose anything that will make their own country economically competitive. The irony is that, in their intellectual homeland, they would be shipped of to Siberia if they dared to protest against the government.

More's the pity. Look where that has gotten us. We are not cut out to be more than hunter-gatherers.

Anyway, why did we stop mining coal?

Perhaps post-Brexit Britain will re-open the mines, sending some children down with a canary... no need for expensive student loans when you've a lifetime career in t'pits.

At least fracking is a long way underground with very little evidence on the surface. Yes, by all means stop fracking, but only if you are prepared to get rid of all of your dishwashers, microwaves and other unnecessary electrical labour saving devices.
Instead of moaning about fracking why don't you try to think of ways to produce energy that won't impact on the environment....

I don't know what is so bad about fracking. Could someone from the anti-fracking brigade explain that to me...

...with some evidence?
