Re: UK interest rates rise for first time in 10 years

Which just proves why the rise in interest will hurt so much.

There has been too much emphises on borrowers. The savers who invest the money have been given a rotten time for far too long. Without the savers there would be no money for banks and building societies to lend.
It is about time the bank of England started to put interest rates up to a decent level starting off at say 5% to give savers a decent return on their capital.

I won't disagree with that but I'm not going to lose my home or be unable to heat it or eat if I don't get a good interest rate, so I tend to feel sorry for those who do.

Put like that I have to agree with you.

Anyone who can already afford to pay over a grand a month on a mortgage shouldn't even flinch at an extra £39.

Some have huge mortgages we can only dream about.
The child will have to go to a state school then not the end of the world .

Shame though because the child was doing really well and was put into private education because of some horrific bullying. It's amazing how many are being taught privately because of failures in the state system.

I think the problem is they can't really afford it morti, many are right on a knife edge, they do it in the hope that wages will rise but that's not happening at all.

Bullying is everywhere and often goes on in private schools too.

You are right but not in this particular school, they have a very robust non bullying policy and specialise in helping kids that have had problems and can't cope in the mainstream.
