So that is where the expression, "a dog in the manger' came from... dates back to when Jesus was eaten by a dog.

I know that dogs chew things up; I didn't realise that they would eat things that aren't food.

Blimey our late Lucy Manchester terrier ate the Christmas lights off the tree one year, was an expensive worrying Christmas as she had to have them removed, they eat anything not nailed down if you aren't careful that includes the nail !

Labradors are especially greedy, my dad's dog would eat anything and everything he could get hold of.

Re: She won't go to heaven

Pehaps better Jesus than a house of furniture. During one of my first years of teaching, I came home from work to find the coffee and end tables, dining room chairs, window sills, stair banisters, and spindles were all in splinters. It looked like a tornado had raked through the entire interior of the house. Even Jesus would have been shocked.

When the estimates for the repairs came in, my dog had destroyed more than I made in a year. Since she had been abused, starved, and abandoned when I found her, there was nothing I could do but accept that this was a consequence of all that - after all, she was a member of the family.

She did go to doggie daycare on my work days after that. It was expensive, but not as expensive as mahogany.
