Silly job descriptions.

Looking in the mod nominations thread I see there is a post mentioning job description mania or words to that effect. I could never see the point of this, is it to make the employee feel more important?, does he/she want to feel more important?, and where did it all originate?. I was never a job snob and if I had to sweep the streets for a living I would gladly do it but I would prefer to be called a street sweeper and not a brush mechanic. Here is a list of the top ten silly job descriptions.

THE TOP 10 SILLIEST MODERN JOB TITLES
1. Brand ambassador (shop assistant)
2. Great service agent (hotel receptionist)
3. Colour distribution technician (painter and decorator)
4. Beauty ambassador (sales assistant specialising in selling make-up)
5. Protection specialist (insurance salesperson)
6. Waking night project worker (a general care worker on a night shift)
7. Wet leisure attendant (lifeguard)
8. Talent delivery specialist (recruitment consultant)
9. Media distribution officer (paperboy)
10. Education centre nourishment consultants (dinnerlady)

Re: Silly job descriptions.

I cant believe the list Jem - its pathetic and I would have hated being called any of those, is it so they keep their pay down by giving them these titles ....
What a load of baloney .......

Supergran is lovely Mags. Granny Mc Phee indeed, God forbid, as they say in the US of A, she hadn't got a great dental plan had she, and she dribbles, one tooth in a fountain.
My two teenager boys call me The Fixer, I'm always repairing things for them and they come to me to fix all their junk, the eldest fella Sean has started a work experience thing in a local bicycle shop, 5 hours every Monday for six months, he loves it.

Re: Silly job descriptions.

I've noticed this on telly quiz games like "The Chase", where contestants have to say their name, age, and occupation, and you hear the most bizarre job titles stated. Bradley nearly always says "and what exactly does that involve?", and it's rarely anything like the title suggested!
