I learned two new words.
I learned two new words today. ROUP. At this point somebody will tell me that it's one of the most common words in the English language and I must have been living in a cave for the last 60 years.
I saw a sign saying 'Roup' by the side of a country road. I found out that it simply means an auction, or to sell by auction. The word itself means to shout or call out.
I then looked this up on the internet and found it referred to a 'deplenishing sale'. This it seems to mean 'to strip a house of furniture and goods'
In this area, it means a farm sale where everything is being sold. Anybody want a tractor?
I may be no wiser, but I am a bit better informed.
