Can anyone advise on camper vans please

Looking to view a vw 125 camper van tonight , the reg is cwp 545w. They are asking £6250 .

What age is this vehicle please.
I don't know the mileage but it looks in good condition and has been cared for , it's a private local sale .

Can anyone give me advice please

Many thanks x

They used w twice so either 1980 or 2000. TBH the age isn't the problem with campervans it's how many miles they have had done and how safe the gas electrics are (have they been serviced properly etc).
We have had some ancient vans but they have been really good because the interiors have been well cared for.

Re: Can anyone advise on camper vans please

For a 1980 model I would imagine it's being sold as a 'collectors' item rather than a usable camper van.
At 35 years old it's bound to have seen a bit of life !

You cannot possibly tell. Some old Volkswagons have been well maintained. You need to inspect it and if necessary have an AA review of it before spending that sort of money on it. Must admit I would be tempted and if it is local then you have nothing to lose by looking it over thoroughly. If they have the service history even better.

Re: Can anyone advise on camper vans please

Find out what the base vehicle is and who the converter was(eg Devon, Autosleepers, Holdsworth etc) then go a google to see what other similar vans are being sold for.

I've never owned a VW camper, but my general opinion of them is that they are small inside - like a TARDIS in reverse. For that money you could get a much newer Ford Transit / Renault Traffic etc based van.

I should have said that's why it was being sold at such a high price it is a collectors item and being sold as such.
